AikiWeb is honored to present the AikiWeb Workshop 2009 with George Ledyard sensei, Toby Threadgill sensei, and another special instructor (to be decided) to take place on March 20-22, 2009 at the Two Cranes Aikido dojo in Seattle, WA. These three instructors from three different lineages will share their budo experience during this three-day workshop. They will present different but compatible approaches to the physical application of techniques and principles from their arts of Aikido, Daito-Ryu Aikijujutsu Roppokai, and Takamura-ha Shindo Yoshin Ryu. A 1986 Shirata Sensei demonstration is now up on YouTube here. According to its description, "Filmed on 11/16, 1986 at the 10th All Japan Traditional Budo Demonstration in Sendai, Japan. Shirata Sensei, 74 years at the time, was representing Aikido. The first uke is John Stevens."

Body Awareness Training as a Foundation for Aikido Practice: An Aikido Workshop with Paul Linden (6 Dan Columbus, Ohio, USA), Sat 06 & Sun 07 December 2008. St. Catherines Centre, Dublin, Ireland. Organised by Heron Dojo Dublin in conjunction with the Aikido Organisation of Ireland. This Aikido workshop will focus on how to use body awareness training to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Aikido defense techniques and deepen Aikido practice as a meditative process. You will work with breath, posture, and intention to develop Aikido technique which is open, balanced, powerful, loving and effective.
